‘Colleges’ are the modern forms of Gurugrihas Both from the ancient and modern definitions; and the philosophies from the East and the West, it is beautifully reflected that Colleges, the other name of Higher Educational Institutes are the Power Houses, created by the Human Resources and for the Great going of the Nation and the World for peace and development. Therefore it is popularly said that ….’No Knowledge, without College’.
Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College shortly KHSC , a seat of Higher learning was established by a group of philanthropists in 1988 with a view to disseminating skill, knowledge and wisdom among the youths, who were compelled to live in the city for job engagements but adversely suffered from lack of higher education. For benifitting the city dwellers through proper arrangements of higher education, this college was established in the outgrowths of Guwahati city. Therefore, originally the college was known as City College. After few years of establishment, with a view to showing the ‘Respect’ to former Chief Minister of Assam Honourable Hiteswar Saikia, for his unparallel services in the field of Higher Education under the greater educational reforms in public sector education in the state of Assam, this college was named as Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College. The nomenclature signifies the motto ‘work is worship’...KARMASHREE and the beautiful inundation of young hearts and minds decode the spirited workforce for a holistic development in the field of higher education.
Our college, KHSC, comprises of two streams with 10 departments and a beautiful as well as gainful mixture of a few job guaranteed ADD ON Courses. The beautiful campus, the well-skilled and knowledgeable faculties, a resourceful library and a strong community linkage of our college can distinctly highlight in the educational map of Higher Education of Assam. The entire College family is ready to accept any type of challenges of higher education under NEP2020.
The college authority is ready to take its utmost care in each and every aspect of student-centric education. For us the interpersonal capabilities of the students are more important than their percentage of marks in examinations. The authority promises a 360 degree and 24x7 CARE for the betterment of the students. The College shall try to ignite the positivity through PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) among the students and to inculcate the dynamism to keep pace with the present World. Along with the Academic all the other extra-curricular talents are also taken care passionately for plucking the fruits. Our institution will upraise the work-culture and inculcate the intensive care for generating the multidimensional capabilities of the students. Though the facilities and hands are limited yet we thrive to invest our best and entire force through a whole-hearted approach to flourish the talents of the students.
The best definition of the best college does not admit the exhibitionism, external beauty and exaggerations. The best college is not defined by rankings, not even by her physical features like buildings or playgrounds; but the best college is found in her high return or investment, strong Career concentration, skill generation as well as up gradation, supportive environment, value outcomes, mutual respects and honour for a hoilistic living and working. Our college is always ready to uphold all these features connotatively aiming the motto of Peace and Development. World famous poet W.B. Yeats rightfully characterized education as “the lighting of a fire,” rather than “the filling of a pail,” emphasizing the nurturing of imagination, character, and passion over rote memorization or mere accumulation of facts. His view favoured fostering creative, independent thought and the development of the whole person. The forces of education are enough for changing and shaping the Human Civilization. Really it is hard time to remember that definition and to accept the growing challenges of education in general and higher education in particular for changing the World with full of confidence and selfness.
The aim of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s vision of education is to spread enlightened idea among the people for the reconstruction of the society on the principles of liberty, equality, fraternity and justice. According to Ambedkar – “Education is a weapon of creation of mental and educational development, weapon of eradication of social slavery of economic development of political freedom”. Again he remarked “Education is what makes a person fearless, teaches him the lesson of unity, makes him aware of rights and inspires him to struggle for his rights.” It beautifully reveals that education is nothing but an untiring movement for freedom.
Dear Friends, it is a hard era with soft technology. Policy of Higher Education has been changed purposively. NEP 2020 reflects the pros and cons of India’s education system and welcomes for a dignified Educational Environment so that the transparency, adaptability, skill generative technology based education and dynamism and creativity can confidently overcome the obstacles so that our education system is incarnated as the ‘VISWAGURU’
Dear Friends, we the KHS College do sincerely promise to provide the best for overall qualitative improvement of our College. Our journey is purely student-centric and for us each and every student is unique and unparallel. We try to focus on diversified capabilities and qualities of the students along with critical thinking ability, not on percentage of marks alone. Because we strongly believe that percentage of marks fail to recognize the success but skill and capability do can.
Anyway, we do sincerely believe that in the nearest future, our college will be placed in the midst of the brightness of Assam’s higher education map. So, we, the College family do sincerely believe in the motto … ‘Unity is our Strength’. I, as the Principal of the College do appeal to the Government to extend their kindness to have a ‘Beautiful Jerk’ in our Great Institution with the Holistic Mission of ‘Work for Change and Development’.
