Vidya Param Balam. (Knowledge is Supreme Power) |
Greetings to all ! At the very outset I, on behalf of all the members of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College family, welcome you all to our college with ardent enthusiasm. Our college is fully dedicated to impart quality education to its students who are the most promising assets of our country. We do believe that every student is endowed with special individual quality and ability, and our duty is to nourish and shape them in positive and constructive manner for the betterment of human life and society at large. However, it does not matter what facility or opportunity we make available to our students, they would not be able to taste the nectar of success if they are not studious and hard-working. The student must study ; without proper methodical study no one can be successful in life. Today’s 21st century society is a knowledge based society and to keep pace with it one has to be a voracious reader. Our books are the store-house of knowledge. For the student, study should not be a burden and pain. Rather it should be their pleasure. Reading and serious study sharpens the intelligence of a person; it helps in honing one’s skill and mental faculty. Without study human intellect is no better than a lifeless entity. About 450 years ago Francis Bacon wrote-“Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability”. Again, noted author and journalist Homen Borgohain, in his book Kitap Parhar Ananda, wrote that our intelligence and emotion can achieve higher degree of refinement and aesthetic as well as intellectual sheen if we build a regular reading habit. Face is the index of the mind. Regular study enriches the mind and the rich mind is reflected in the face of a person. A resourceful mind enlightens the face. Reading habit built at the early stage of life can be maintained all through the life.
With the emergence of The National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020), which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, the education scenario of the country is going to be changed in a big way. The NEP 2020 is framed with the objective of developing “intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, ethical, and moral facets of an individual in an integrated manner, thereby contributing directly to transformation of the country and making India a global knowledge superpower” With regards to the Higher Education the very idea of the institution is changed, with facilities for multidisciplinary courses and intensive focus on research and development, innovation, and incubation. All efforts of the institution are to be designed to create individuals with strong values and skill sets. To keep pace with this changing academic milieu, the responsibilities of the teachers have also increased. They have to be adequately oriented and enriched with skill, expertise and knowledge for fruitful implementation of NEP 2020. The dedication and honest service of the teaching fraternity is the key to developing, as NEP2020 envisages, an education system with its root in Indian ethos and teaching in one’s mother tongue contributing in transforming India into a effervescent knowledge society, by providing high-quality education to all, and thereby placing India in the global pedestal as a knowledge powerhouse.
I hope we will not fall short in our effort and dedication in empowering our people, and society at large with knowledge, wisdom, and skill.
With this I extend my best wishes to you all in your academic journey towards excellence, knowledge and wisdom.
